TLV320AIC3107EVM-K: USB Not Connected

Part Number: TLV320AIC3107EVM-K
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC3120EVM-PDK,

Hi,

Our customer installed the latest GUI version 2.0 to Windows 10 PC. Unfortunately, "USB Not Connected" is displayed and the GUI doesn't work normally.
So, could you please tell me how to solve it?
"USB-MODEVM Windows XP/Vista/7 Driver(SLAC521.ZIP)" isn't installed to Windows 10 PC.

Best regards,
Kato

  • Hello Kato-san,

Thank you for reaching out. SLAC521 does not need to be installed. The device should enumerate as a "USB-AudioEVM" once the USB is connected.

To fix this issue please try running the GUI as Administrator, if you have not done so already. This will allow the GUI the privileges it needs to run. In order to play audio over the USB port, make sure USB-AudioEVM is selected in Windows as the default playback device.

If this does not fix your issue, please send a screenshot of the GUI and Device manager in your reply.

    Best,
    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew-san,

Unfortunately, this issue cannot be fixed. I will share the following screenshot. So, could you give me some advice?

    Best regards,
    Kato

  • Kato-san,

I checked with the team and the USB-MODEVM driver is not an issue. However, please let me know what EVM USB interface you are using. This will either be the AC-MODEVM or the USB-MOD Interface motherboard (I am assuming it is the USB-MOD).

Please try the following steps to see if the GUI connects to the EVM.

    1. Disconnect the EVM from the PC
    2. Exit the AIC310x GUI
    3. Verify that the jumpers and switches of the EVM and USB interface boards are in their initial out-of-box positions.
    4. Uninstall all instances of "Line (USB-AudioEVM)"
      1. Open Device Manager
      2. Under View tab, select show hidden devices.
      3. Remove/Uninstall any TI-Audio Drivers from Audio inputs/outputs, Sound, video and game controllers or any component with Line (USB-AudioEVM)
    5. Run the AIC310x GUI as Administrator
      1. If the problem persists, please show all hidden devices in both audio dropdowns.

Let me know if this fixed your issue. If it did not, it would also be helpful for me to see a board picture, so I can verify the jumper/switch settings.

    Best,
    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew-san,

    Thank you for your cooperation.

I will look into this and get back to you again.

  • Hi Andrew-san,

Our customer used ADC3120EVM-PDK and it worked fine, will it conflict with TLV320AIC3107EVM-K?

    Best regards,
    Kato

  • Kato-san,

This may be the issue. In general, the USB drivers are only able to communicate with one GUI and EVM at a time. Please close out and disconnect other EVMs while trying to bring up the TLV320AIC3107EVM-K.

    Best,
    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew-san,

    Thank you for your information.

I understood that ADC3120EVM-PDK and TLV320AIC3107EVM-K shouldn't be used at the same time.
I would like to confirm just in case, should the USB driver be uninstalled each time when changing the EVM?

    Best regards,
    Kato

  • Hello Kato-san,

In general, uninstalling drivers each time is unnecessary. However, if you are experiencing driver related issues, uninstalling unused drivers is a recommended debug step.

    Best,
    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew-san,

  • Hi Andrew-san,

    Sorry for the delay.

Our customer decided to prepare two PCs to evaluate each EVM.
I will contact you if I get any additional questions from our customer.

    I would appreciate your cooperation.

    Best regards,
    Kato
