Hi,
I'm designing the TAS2563, TAS2557 or similar into a new product. The DSP's equalizer functionality is essential to make the end product work well
The product webpages are confusing when it comes to which development kits I must get in order to develop equalizer settings. Please let me know which kits I need to:
- Run PurePath
- Inject I2S audio data
- Connect my loudspeaker
I see dev kits with I2C or JTAG headers, but none with USB. Please let me know how the PurePath software running on a PC will configure the DAC/amplifier IC.
Thanks,
Børge
Hi Børge,
Our EVMs basically require a USB connection to the PC, which runs PurePath Console 3 and the EVM-specific plugin. There is an onboard USB-to-I2S/I2C controller that interfaces with Windows and PPC3 to send both the required configuration and audio data.
You can use PPC3 and TAS2563/TAS2557 plugin offline (no EVM connected) so you can also have a better understanding of what are the available features on each version. (I just granted you access to PPC3 and all 3 plugin versions)
TAS2563 is the latest smartamp generation with some improvements in terms of speaker protection algorithm compared to TAS2557. It comes in two different packages, and the DSP capabilities are different for each one; QFN package features larger count of processing tools.
Regarding the hardware required for evaluation, you can refer to this list:
You can refer to user's guide of each piece of hardware, in addition to the set of documentation available in TAS2563 and TAS2557 product folders:
Please feel free to ask any specific questions.
