PCM9211: Timing chart

Hi,

Customer inputs the I2S signal from an external device into the PCM 9211.
And the customer wants to input the I2S into the DIT and do the SPDIF conversion.
Could you answer the following questions?

1. Could you tell me the timing chart of BCK/LRCK/DATA in DIT when I2S is entered?
2. Also, is my understanding correct that I refer to page 10, 6.8 Timing Requirements for the value (min/max)?

Hello, when you are using the I2S from external source (Slave) or internal, you just need to go by the timing requirement shown in section 6.8. for that.

when externally providing the I2S, you have to just watch for few things such as the max freq ( limited by min tcyl) and .... and as long as you are within the boundaries mentioned in 6.8 , conversion will happen with no problem.

Yes, these are the spec for BCK that you need to check.

Hi Arash-san,

Fig.7-5 shows timing for DOUT but no timing for DIN.
Which image on the datasheet should I check for DIN?

Hello, these timings diagrams are standard and only the values would change from part to part. you can see how Din is relative to BCK and LRCLK, showing set up and hold time on Din below.

What are the min/max values for tds and tdh when working with the configuration described in my very first post?
Is there any documentation that can confirm this?

Hi Nishie-san,

There are only the minimum set up and hold time required and are mentioned in the same page (P10) . Basically you need to make sure you meet the minimum to be able to capture the data correctly.
