I have designed a board using two TAS2562 amplifiers. If possible, I would like to have the audio portion of the design reviewed by an expert before ordering the boards. I would prefer to not post the design to the public forums, as we do not have patents for the product we intend to use it for yet. I tried to follow the data sheet as closely as possible, but we were hoping to use a 4 layer board, so it is not a perfect replication of the reference design. It is not going to be used in a setting where audio quality is of utmost importance, so it does not need to be perfect, but we would still like to maintain the best quality possible. The board also contains CC8530 and RF components, but I am having that section reviewed separately by your simplelink 2.4GHz design review. My degree is in mechanical engineering so I do not have a lot of experience with electronics and would greatly appreciate any advice, corrections, or recommendations.

I also will need the audio portion of the design on the other side of the RF to be reviewed. It uses tlv320adc3101 connected to a vesper vm1000 microphone.

Hi Austin,

the schematic for TAS2562 looks correct, I do not have any issue.

For ADC3101 it is recommended to connect the unused analog input to GND through a 0.47uF capacitor.

Regarding the layout. can you share the .brd file? its not simple for me to check the layout with the gerber files.

Hi Austin,

from my perspective the reminders are very helpful, so do not feel annoying.

I attempted to open the files in Allegro PCB viewer, but I am getting some errors saying the design is corrupted. Can you share a PDF version of the PCB layers? this may be simpler to review then debugging these files/tools.

Additionally, circling back to your advice on connecting unused analogue inputs to ground through a 0.47uF capacitor for ADC3101, do you mean change the value of C1 on pin 13 to 0.47uF or do I need to add capacitors for pins 6, 7, 8, and 11 as well? If it is the latter, is it absolutely necessary? We have a very space constrained design and adding routes to all of those pins would be difficult without making the board larger.

Hi Austin,

I shared the layout review over private message.

Regarding the decoupling. It is technically recommended to decouple every unused input with a 0.47uF capacitor, however, this will only give a very small performance improvement, typically for a pro audio application it would be needed, however for general purpose use the inputs can be left floating and disabled in software. In your case I just recommend to replace your one decoupling capacitor with 0.47uF

Thank you for the detailed review. I believe I made all of the changes you recommended, but had to make a lot more because of an error on the RF side of the board. I missed in the data sheet the RF chip can't have a split rail, so I had to change the amplifier to TAS2563 to allow for a 3.3V IOVDD. Since I had to completely rework the receiver board and make a few more small changes on the transmitter would you please look over the boards once more to double check for any errors.
