TAS6424-Q1: Early clipping around 40W

Part Number: TAS6424-Q1

Hi Guys,

I'm working on Automotive Audio Amplifier using TAS6424-Q1, it's powered at 25V on PVDD and digital input is fed by 96KHz@24Bit I2S, gain level is 4 (but with 3 nothing change) PWM frequency is 2.11MHz

My problem is I have output clipping at 40W@4ohm instead of 50-55W declared on datasheet, what I'm doing wrong? what I should check?

Thank You in advance

Claudio

  • Hi Claudio

       40W indeed quite low.

Please first check if your power supply could support this maximum power. If the power supply is limiting the current, the PVDD voltage will drop, can't maintain 25V.

And please use oscilloscope to capture both the output waveform and PVDD waveform, and check what is the voltage value for both of them.
