TPA3223: Noise (Not THD+N) vs Power

Part Number: TPA3223

Hi experts,

My customer feel that >50uV output noise is high. And in features at datasheet, it is described <100uV output noise.

I understand 100uV is maximum value at high power, so it is not high value in customers use case.

Customer is thinking 100Wx2ch solution. So, is there any data output noise (not THD+N) vs power? Or, please tell me noise level in 100Wx2ch.

Regards,

Youhei MIYAOKA

  • Hi MIYAOKA-san

Most of the time, the noise is only tested under idle state.

When device PLAY large power, there's too many signals mixed together. Besides the noise coming from device or background, there would be large high order harmonic of your basic signal, and there would mismatch harmonic coming from MOS switching. I'm afraid there's no way to isolate them from the noise signal, they are all just mixed together. And if you add them all together and check what would total noise+harmonic, this is actually THD doing.

So if you know how would customer test noise during PLAY large power, you could let us know, and we would check what we could do.
