TAS2X63EVM: PPC3 plug in

Part Number: TAS2X63EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2563,

Hello,

Our customer had bought TAS2x63EVM and running it on PPC3 using TAS2563 plug in.

Is that correct version of plug in for TAS2x63EVM?

Because we could not release Device power down IRQ status.

How can we release Device power down" status?

Is there detailed operation manual document of TAS2x63EVM?

Regards,

Mochizuki

  • Hi Mochizuki,

Could you please share a capture of the "About" dialog within PPC3? You should be using TAS2563QFN EVM:

Please share the customer email address used for their myTI account, you can share through private e2e message or email. Then we can check if they have the proper software access.

  • Hi Ivan,

I posted our customer email address to private e2e message.

Also I sent DL request of TAS2563QFN EVM plug in, please grant my access.

What is difference of PPC3 plugin function between TAS2563 EVM and TAS2563QFN EVM? Is that smart amp tuning function?

Still we need dedicated operation manual for TAS2x63EVM, which one should we refer?

    Regards,

    Mochizuki

  • Hi Mochizuki,

I'm following up on some of the questions over private message.
Regarding the manual, this is the user's guide for QFN EVM: https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau835a/slau835a.pdf

There are some differences in the internal DSP features, you'll notice a different number of EQ and DRC bands between these devices. However, the analog and boost performance are the same, the differences are only present in the tuning mode.

  • Hi Ivan,

Thank you for your prompt support.

We are using TAS2x63EVM AMPS122C version EVM but still no sound out using plug in of TAS2563QFN EVM.

The user's guide for QFN EVM is not described any detail of operation. We would like to know following things, one by one.

     1. This time we will not use Learning board2, Skip Smart Amp processing. In that case how can we road Flat response no Thermal sensing parameter at Characterization tab? It looks Default setting still has something modeled speaker parameter.

    2.  Build in Audio player could play a music file, but no sound out even changing audio volume. Where is audio signal input path selector?

I doubt I2S signal is not routed to TAS2563QFN from XMOS USB interface. Or is there Mute function?

     3. Is there System check function on TAS2563QFN EVM plug in GUI? Previous TAS2563 EVM plug in has that function.

Also there is no IRQ tab on TAS2563QFN EVM plug in, how can we see IRQ live status?

    Regards,

    Mochizuki

  • Hello Ivan,

Here is update, we get backup the EVM today and run TAS2563QFN EVM plugin. Successfully sound is out at default setting.

It seems the other EVM got damaged.

To start D-amp evaluation, we still need no smart amp enhancement setting mode.

Would you tell us the idea for my previous questions.

    Regards,

    Mochizuki

  • Hi Mochizuki,

    Thanks for the additional information.

There are basically two operation modes for TAS2563:

    • ROM mode is the basic configuration, in this case the speaker protection and all other audio processing features like EQ, DRC, etc are disabled. In order to configure the device for this mode, you should follow this procedure:
      • Open TAS2563QFN plugin
      • Connect the EVM to PPC3
      • Go to "Device Control" panel
      • Select "ROM Mode" form the drop-list at the top-right
      • Click on "Apply" at the top-right
      • At this moment the device should be fully initialized and ready to play audio
    • Tuning mode includes speaker protection and all other processing features. Speaker protection cannot be bypassed completely; however, the protection limits (Xmax and Tmax) can be set to very high values to prevent early protection. In order to configure the device for this mode, follow this procedure:
      • Open TAS2563QFN plugin
      • Connect the EVM to PPC3
      • Go to "Tuning and Audio Processing" panel
      • After some time, the device should be fully initialized and ready to play audio

Regarding the IRQ flags, you can see these at the "Device Control" panel, at the top-right corner, this shows a pop-up window where you can inspect both latched and live interrupts.

As for audio playback tests, you can use any audio source like media player, or web browser. The EVM works as any other sound card for the PC.
