TL972: TL972 marking decode

Hi,

I am looking to understand the marking on the TL972 chips, I have had some issues in the past and now they're re-appearing with a new PCBA producer. With the first marking code I have a worse SNR (my overall system SNR of ~71 here). When changing manually the ICs for those with the second marking they work as designed (I have an overall system output SNR of ~74).

Bad chip marking: Z972 1AM ALEV G4

Good chip marking: Z972 1AM AN48 G4

Hello Manuel,

Can you specify if the device was in SOIC or TSSOP package so I can look up the specific topside marking of the device?

Hi Jerry,

The PN is TL972ID so it is a SOIC package.

Hey Manuel,

The devices are produced on the same date in the same assembly and test site, but they are different lots. Could you include a schematic and what your test methodology is for measuring SNR? Most important specifications to include are:

Supply Voltage
Input voltage (Frequency and amplitude)
Output load

If you are operating close to the device limits, you can see some specification degradation if you are outside of the linear operating range of the device.
