TAS2505EVM: SAMPLE APPLICATION ON DEVELOPMENT KIT

Part Number: TAS2505EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS2505

Hello, I want to give a signal with the oscilloscope through the kit and operate the speaker. I have no idea how to do it. Can you please guide me or share a document?

  • Hi Mustafa,

Perhaps a block diagram would be good to better understand what you're trying to accomplish.
TAS2505 supports analog or digital inputs. If you want to use digital input, the EVM is ready to play audio coming through USB from any PC, you just need to initialize the device using the GUI. As for analog inputs, there's J3 input jack, then you also need to use the GUI to configure the device to use analog inputs.

Based on what's needed we can help with further details.

  • I can explain like this. I have a tas2505 development kit but i have no idea. I read the documentation but I didn't understand where to start. I don't understand how to make connections. Can you suggest me a list of instructions or a video? obviously, I'm afraid of ruining the kit.

  • Hi Mustafa,

Unfortunately don't have a walkthrough video, but I'm adding some comments below:

    • The EVM only requires USB connection to the PC. You should download and use the GUI provided in the EVM folder: TAS2505EVM Evaluation board | TI.com
    • You can connect any speaker to J7 output, you'll need a screwdriver for this. This is the mono Class-D output.
    • You can also connect a pair of headphones to J4 output. Notice this is a mono output so only the Left channel will sound while Right is not used. This is the mono Class-AB output.
    • The EVM is powered from the PC 5V through USB cable. No need for external power supplies.
    • Once the EVM is connected, you should use the GUI to configure the device for the specific mode you want. Click on "View" and then "Example Configurations...":
      • Class-D Speaker option includes all the required configuration to play audio through J7 output.
      • Headphones option includes all the required configuration to play audio through J4 output.
    • Once the device is properly configured for the required mode, you can play audio from PC like you do for any other audio output (media player, YouTube videos, Audacity or other audio software). Just make sure it is selected as default playback device, not the same but similar to this:

Hope this helps, let us know if there are any further questions.

  • Thank you very much for your answer. Your instructions worked. Now I have an idea where to start.
