TAS6584-Q1: Invalid temp readings on startup

Hi there,

I am running into a strange bug with the TAS6584 where on power up, its temperature readings return -273.13C (or register value 0) and doesn't update until a load is connected. Only after the load is connected does the temperature register update properly. Is this normal behavior?

Hi Yutong

It's possible normal behavior. When there's no load at all, the device can't pass the DC load diag, then the state of the device can't leave Sleep mode. The DSP related function can't work normally when in this state. You need at least connect one load, or use I2C to bypass DC load diag.

I see, I'm also observing that the temperature readings continues to update after removing the load. Would that be expected as well in this case?

This won't influence anything. Since the device already leave the Sleep mode, it won't go back easily. Unless you pull low STBY or PD, or restart device.
