TAS5411-Q1: Short-to-GND Issue

Hello team,

My customer is using TAS5411EVM board to drive the 4Ohm speaker, but the tool report the short-to-GND fault. The detail is as below:

Supply of EVM board, 12.6V

Speaker is 4Ω，they measured as 4.1Ω.

Please check the connection as below:

1. The speaker is connected to the EVM out

2. They short the out of the EVM board

Support need:

1. Please help review the test condition, and analysis why the fault is reported?

2. I see the short event is reported when the Resistance is in 0.9Ohm--1.5Ohm range, please help clarify the mechanism of how TAS5411 detect the resistance and diagnose the short-to-GND fault?

Let me know if you have any waveforms need to get from the customer

Lanxi,

During turn-on with the speaker load, you are observing the rapid charge current of the 3.3uF capacitor in the LC filter. You may need to reduce this to 2.2uF so that the combination of your speaker and the LC filter do not cause an OC at turn-on.

But they report Short-to GND fault not OC, would you mind help clarify this to them?

Lanxi,

It looks like they may not have the speaker connected correctly. Verify that the speaker is connected to OUTP and to OUTM. Looks like one side is connected to ground.
