TPA3255: Decoupling capacitor for TPA3255 - PVDD Pins

Part Number: TPA3255

Hello Team,

In TPA3255 Datasheet it is suggested to use 1uF decoupling capacitor for each PVDD pins.

Due height restriction under the heat sink, Can we use two 0.47uF 100V 0603 X7R capacitor, instead of one 1206 1uF 100V 0603 X7R.

If Yes, what will be effect on performance of the decoupling capacitor please share valuable feedback for the above query.

Thank you

  • Hello Pavan,

As long as for your system it can withstand the voltage overshoot of the PWM switching, the heat generated by the amplifier during high power output, and the ripple current created by high power output. This is just our recommendation since it's we used when doing validation of the part but if it works for your system conditions you can change it but would recommend validating it on the EVM or on your system.

    best regards,
    Luis
