TPA6133A2: BTL Mode

Hi,

My understanding is that the TPA6130A2 has a similar architecture to the TPA6133A2 but allows the amplifier to work in a BTL configuration via I2C control.

I was wondering if the TPA6133A2 can also be used in the BTL configuration to save the need for the I2C communication. Is BTL mode tying RIGHINP and LEFTINM together internally and RIGHTINM to LEFTINP? If so could connecting these together externally allow for the TPA6133A2 to work in BTL mode?

I intend to use two TPA6133A2's in BTL mode to drive two headphone drivers in a set where higher power output is required. They will be connected to the differential outputs from a QCC5181 module.

Hi Jonny,

You should be able to get BTL operation by short and crossing the input signals across channels. Disadvantage is you'd have to do it externally with some additional circuitry.

Take one of the amplifiers. If I take the differential outputs from the BT receiver (lets say L- & L+) how would these be connected to the inputs on the TPA6133A2?

Hi Jonny,

You should do as you said, basically swap the signals between the device inputs:

L- from input signal to LEFTINM and RIGHTINP
L+ from input signal to LEFTINP and RIGHTINM
