TAS5828M: Sample Rate Converter Performance

Part Number: TAS5828M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SRC4192

I have a question about the TAS5828M sample rate converter performance. The data sheet does not provide too many details regarding sample rate converter performance.

I have an application in which the I2S audio data has considerable jitter. Will the sample rate converter in the TAS5828M provide similar performance to say a dedicated sample rate converter such as the SRC4192? I am pursuing optimal audio performance. Please recommend which option is best to achieve the best audio performance.

Also, is the TAS5828M the only and best digital audio amplifier that contains a hardware control mode? I am looking for the best-performing digital audio amplifier with the following characteristics:

- 25-50 Watts

- Hardware control mode

- best in class SNR, PSRR and lowest distortion

  • hi, Frank

for HW mode only exit in tas5828m, so we recommend 5828 is your best choice.

if hw mode is not necessary, tas5825 also might be your option.

in our device, we will use internal osc to process the data once the PLL be locked according to you input sample rate.

so even you having Jitter at the input, it will not affect the data processing in device.

you can take a try with our evm board to confirm whether the jitter will affect the thd performance in your situation.

    tks
