Dear ladies and gentleman,
I have a short question regarding the valid signals ranges for the analog inputs of a tas3204 DSP. Since the DSP is running from a single supply voltage I would have expected that the audio signal on the analog inputs has to be in a range from 0 to vdd volts. For that purpose I used the vmid voltage to generate an offset in my input circuits to lift the rca signal above 0 volts and let it instead work in close range to the vmid voltage. Now I just unpacked an evaluation board for the tas3204 and found in the enclosed circuit diagrams that the input signals are dc decoupled. I haven't measured the signals at the analog inputs of the evm board yet but if the signals are dc decoupled the tas sould be capable of handeling negative voltage swings of the audio signal at the inputs, doesn't it? The big question is which levels are ok for the dsp. The only thing I found in the datasheet of the tas3204 is an rms value, which is for an audio signal quiet hard to calculate and won't give me much input on the allowable negative input levels. Could you please help me in this matter?
Best regards from Switzerland,
Stephan
