TLV320AIC3106: 1x audio out, 1x microphone, and 1x stereo line in

Part Number: TLV320AIC3106

Hi,

The customer specifies that the input/output for this codec is a 3.5mm 4-pole TRRS connector.

However, to achieve the functionality of "1x audio out, 1x microphone, and 1x stereo line in":

(1) Is it feasible? (2) Are there any reference circuit diagrams available?

Thanks!

Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

It is possible, but it's not optimal. You could have an assignment such as T: Stereo Left, R: Stereo Right:, R:Audio out, S: Microphone.

However you would be missing the common ground connection which makes the audio signals highly susceptible to noise. I don't know of any reference circuits, but if you research the pinouts of TRRS connectors you'll find that it's very common to include a ground connection on either the ring or sleeve.

    Best regards,
    Jeff McPherson
