TPA3250: Fault pin functionality

Part Number: TPA3250

Hello Team,

We are currently working on 60W amplification circuit designed using TPA3250

During the testing we can see that Fault pin toggle for short duration to low level(0V). Could you please suggest what might be the reason for this behavior.
Is it normal case or occur when IC functionality goes bad.

During the test temperature was monitored and temperature is less than 40°C.

  • Hello Pavan,

Are you able to operate this device after this condition? Is this happening during startup. On device startup you might see this pin toggle for a short time during the Pin-to-Pin Short Circuit Protection protection and as the internal LDO are ramping up when you take the device out of reset due to UVP.

    best regards,

    Luis

  • Hello Luis,

No, we cannot operate after this condition. We are getting the PWM signal continuously at Fault PIN.
For short duration at regular intervals the Fault signal is going low.

  • Hi Pavan.

About your questions, could you help to provide more detailed information.

    • When this problem happens? Startup, idle or play music? Could you help to gather some waveforms?  Four probes, FAULT, CLIP_OTW, OUTPUT_N (before inductor), OUTPUT_P (before inductor).

    • Please provide your schematic.
    • PVDD voltage and load impedance.
