TPA6139A2: Power on sequence

Part Number: TPA6139A2

Hello,

I have a question about Power on Sequence. of "TPA6139A2PWR".

In my circuit, 3.3V is applied to "MUTE" pin, while VDD is "Low".

Is the MUTE pin tolerance?
Is this harmful to "TPA6139A2PWR"?

Best regards,

  • Hi Yana,

Enabling MUTE before VDD power up is not the recommended sequence, this may increase the possibility of pop noise as described in data sheet section 9.4.2

In addition to that, this device specifies that MUTE pin abs max is VDD+0.3V, so if VDD = 0V this would take the device out of specified conditions.
In cases like this, there's risk of damaging the internal diodes. If VDD=0 and being reversed biased through MUTE pin, the VDD supply connection is made through internal circuitry, if device is enabled and there's input signal, all the current required for the operation would flow through this internal circuitry from MUTE to VDD.
