TAD5242: Is this correct chip?

I bought TAD5242 audio DACs, but I received chips marked "5212."

I received this information fromTI Support:

"After a thorough investigation, the devices sent are correct and configured for XTAD5242IRGER as on the label of the package. The top marking on the device will reflect the parent family which is X5212 as this is pre-production device. Once in production, the device top markings will be updated."

The installed chip does not work. Output signal i 0V, as if the chip was inactive.

First question before technial one:

So what is the TAD5212 chip marked: "5242" ???

Hi Jan,

Yes the information you received is correct.

All the following devices belonging to pin-to-pin TAC5212 family will have a top side marking of 'X5212' as these are pre-production devices:

TAD5212, TAD5242, TAD5142, TAD5112, TAA5242, TAA5212, TAC5212, TAC5242, TAC5211, TAC5112, TAC5142, TAC5111.

Once in production, these will have a different top-side marking for each one. Currently you should see the exact part number on the cover of the package as 'XTAD5242IRGER' , etc.
Please share the device connections details used for TAD5242 to confirm the device is active?

There is our schematic (decoupling capacitors are outside this picture):

PCB is correct. 24-bit input signal is on I2S. Our old DAC CS4344 works with this signal.

Hello Jan,

What are the exact values of I2S clks you are sending in? I don't see these values mentioned above.

Can you send me a screen shot of I2S signals on the scope , all in one screen , so I can see the edges of all respect to each other?

I would not short the unused output pins to GND, rather leave them floating.

I send BCLK/FSYNC and BCLK/DIN(single mode) scope signals. BCLK frequency is 2,85MHz.

Unused output pins - OUT1- and OUT2- ?

Yes, OUT1- and OUT2- should be left floating rather than connected to GND. Thank you for the scope shots. Arash is out of office today and will continue investigating tomorrow.

I disconnected OUT1-, OUT20 from ground nd a signal appeared at the output.
