TAS2780EVM: Evaluating V-Sense and I-sense

Hello,

I am evaluating the TAS2780EVM using the PurePath Console with the TAS2780 plug-in. I've successfully played audio through speakers and would now like to test V & I sense. Under Device Control's miscellaneous box I have checked the box to enable V-sense and I-sense. I've also changed to the advance mode and in the TDM box under the transmitter slots tab, I've enabled V-sense to slot 2 and I-sense to slot 0.

Is there a way to then read V-sense and I-sense using PurePath Console?

Hi Kessler,

There is not a way to record IV sense directly into PPC3. I recommend you use a DAW such as Audacity to record the IV sense data from the EVM.

1) Download and load audacity https://www.audacityteam.org/

2) set the TAS2780EVM as the record and playback device in audacity

3) L/R channels in audacity will correspond to slot 0 and slot 4 in the TAS2780

4) load audio file to be played in audacity

5) press Shift+R to begin playing the audio file and recording IV-sense Simultaneously

Hi Arthur,

Thanks for the reply and the suggestion. I've followed your instructions and have gotten data for L/R channels but I do not understand how to interpret the data.

Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Kessler,

The full scale value for current sense is 5Amps and the full scale voltage sense is 16Vpk. i.e. an amplitude of "1" in audacity will correspond to 5A or 16V respectively.

Hi Arthur,

Thank you so much for the help. Would I then interpret the below audacity file as 0.05 x 5A = 250mA?

Hi Kessler,

yes, that is correct for the "top" waveform. 250mA peak.. however I often forget which channel is I and which is V. a quick way is to check is to disconnect the speaker and the current sense will record near 0
