Dear sir:

I have couple of questions while I look into the PCM1704 datasheet.

1. What's the real maimum sample rate of PCM1704? Is that 96ksps or 768ksps if I am not going to adhere the DF1704.

2. Is it possible to have PCM1704 to generate ramp wave with 768ksps input data w/o DF1704? How?

3. Are all the dynamic performance measured w/o DF1704?

Hi, Brian,

This part works for 96 ksps.

I don't believe the d/s graphs were generated using the DF1704.

Hi! Don:

May I assume PCM1704 has built in 8x oversampling and sample rate is up to 768ksps? My goal is to generate the Arbitrary

waveform (sine, triangle, sawtooth or combined) on 768sps.

Brian,

Yes, but you can't apply 768 ksps to the input, it only supports up to 96 kHz.

It sounds like you may want to look at some of our high-speed converters (non-audio).

Hello Don, I know, that PCM1704 works up to 96kHz when 8x oversampling is used, but for me it works for 192kHz/24bit. I checked with test signals and looked on them on oscilloscope. Maybe PCM1704 can works up to 768kHz, because it has R-2R architecture. For me is the PCM1704 best DAC chip for HiFi on the world and I am not happy, that it is NRND marked without better R-2R architecture DAC successor.
