TLV320ADC5140: I2S Protocol

The customer is using TLV320ADC5140 to sample four analog microphone signals.

Because the I2S host is a standard I2S and cannot be modified, only tlv320adc5140 can be connected to the standard I2S interface.

Whether it is available?

Or CH1 and CH2 are output by SDOUT ; CH3 and CH4 are output by GPIO1? Is this okay? Whether this could be configurated by register?

Hi Fabio,

The ASI configuration on the ADC5140 is quite flexible. You can configure GPIO1 as a secondary data output and then map two of the channels to GPIO1 and leave two with SDOUT. See the picture below for an example

Hi Fabio,

The picture I shared is from the ADC5140EVM PurePath Console 3 GUI. Do you have access to it or has the customer used any of the ADCx140EVMs in the past?

The customer have not used ADCx140EVMs.

I have the access to PPC3. I am guiding the customer to download ppc3.

So you could grant the ADC5140 access to me and the customer directly?

The customer want to test in their own board.

So they will use one "I2C to USB" tool" which connecting to ADCx140 I2C pin? Is it right?

Whether it is available to use our PPC3 in this way?

Hi Fabio,

It's possible but I am not sure. PPC3 is only expected to interface with the EVM. Customer will need to double check that the I2C to USB tool gives the correct I2C transactions but it might be possible.

Otherwise PPC3 will let the customer create a register dump which can then be loaded on to a controller or some other I2C programmer.
