TLV320AIC3256: Compressor settings...

Part Number: TLV320AIC3256

We are developing compressor settings for a product using the AIC3256. We are using PurePath studio.

The audio sound-shaping developers come from an audio focused background. They are sending me settings that are from an analog style compressor.

The DRC controls in PurePath studio share some of the same characteristics as an analog modeled compressor, but there are enough differences that I am concerned I am not translating the settings accurately.

Is there a white paper / app note on the DRC that explains the settings in relation to an analog / analog modeling compressor?

    Hi ACV,

    We don't have any documentation specifically comparing the DRC with more traditional analog compressors, but I have experience with both so I can help bridge the gap. If you would like to double check with me which settings map to where, I can help with that.

    First make sure you read 2.4.4.3 in the Application Reference Guide. It has better descriptions of the DRC parameters compared to the datasheet and that may help confirm some of your doubts.
