TAS5548: volume register 0xD0 programming

Hello,

Our customer has a question why a user should wait for 1.5x slew rate period after he program volume register 0xD0 in TAS5548 shown in below, becuase this restriction makes him complicated software development, according to him.

Could you please help him why TAS5548 needs this restriction.

Note: Once the volume command is given, no I2C commands should be issued until volume ramp has finished. The lock out time is 1.5 × slew rate or defined in 0xD0

Hi Toshiro,

This is done to prevent class-D amps that are open loop from potentially becoming unstable. If something changes while the volume ramps, it would be possible for these uncontrolled types of amps to behave poorly.
