Hi There,

I intend to use the TAS6424L-Q1 with a TDM signal from a MCHstreamer (MiniDSP). TDM 8 @96 kHz on 24 bits.

DI Timing and values requirement seem 100% compatible.

As soon as activated (mute or play mode) the clock error occurs and no signal is sent to the speaker.

Using either MCLK or SCLK (as suggested in the documentation) for both MCLK and SCLK doesn't change anything.

TAS6424L-Q1 was tested using the USB audio input as well the Optical input with the MCHstreamer. Both work fine.

Hi Laurent,

From your description,

FSYNC = 96kHz
Slot width = 32bits
Word width = 24bits
SCLK= MCLK= 256Fs = 24.576MHz

These should be automatically recognized, and audio should be passed to the audio amplifier and to the speakers. Please check your clocks and the datasheet on Audio-Clock Error Handling, section 9.3.1.6.

The USB and Optical are using 48kHz, I2S format.

Hi Laurent,

One more thing.

Are you inserting your MCHstreamer 96kHz signals to the EVM? If so, you need to have a separate ground for each Clock signal and a separate ground for the digital audio. If you share a ground, you can have clock faults due clock corruption when outputs are placed into mute or play.

Hi Gregg,

I am not sure sure I got your point. What do you mean by separte ground when all grouds are connected inside the EVM and only one is available on the MCHstreamer? How could I get separated grounds?

Laurent,

We have found that a clock having a shared ground on the wires can cause the issue. The longer wires of the connection can cause the clock errors when sharing a long ground wire.

My wires are less than 300mm long, from the MCHstreamer pins to the EVM pins, including a connection pcb. do you consider this as long?

Laurent,

Yes, 300mm (12") is very long. You will need those ground wires for each clock. You may want to twist that ground wire with is associated signal wire.
