PCM1808: MD0, MD1, and FMT pins vs. power-up

Part Number: PCM1808

Tool/software:

The PCM1808 datasheet (section 7.3.5.1) says "It is necessary to set MD1 and MD0 prior to power on". I want to confirm that "power on" here refers to the startup sequence in section 7.3.4 including applying an input clock on SCKI?

In other words, it's OK if MD0 and MD1 do not have correct values at the time Vcc and Vdd are applied, as long as they are set correctly before SCKI starts?
