TAS6424-Q1: Audio quality according to MCLK change.

Part Number: TAS6424-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi dir

Hi.

Will changing the MCLK of the TAS6424-Q1 from 512 × fS to 128 × fS affect the audio quality?
SCLK uses 32 × fS, FSYNC uses 48 kHz.

  • Hello,

Change the MCLK frequency does not impact audio quality, as there is internal divider or mutiper to settle internal frequency to be 256fs.

  • Hi dir

Can you elaborate on what is fixed to 256fs by the internal divider?

Is there a reason why it is fixed to 256fs?

If SCLK (bit clock) is simultaneously input to MCLK without inputting MCLK separately, and SCLK is 32fs, is MCLK internally fixed to 256fs?

  • Hello,

It is internal used system main clock.

Can you elaborate on what is fixed to 256fs by the internal divider?

It is for internal use, not related to external application.  I can't disclosure the reason.

If SCLK (bit clock) is simultaneously input to MCLK without inputting MCLK separately, and SCLK is 32fs, is MCLK internally fixed to 256fs?

32fs SCLK can't be use for MCLK pin, the frequency is too low, will trigger a clock fault report from device.  please read datasheet about minimum frequency requirement about MCLK frequency.

Is there a reason why it is fixed to 256fs?

  • Hi

It was wrong to ask about simultaneous input to MCLK and SCLK.
I mistook it for TDM mode.
    I have one more question.
In the first question, if I change MCLK from 512 × fS to 128 × fS, will it affect the audio performance items below?
I've already received an answer that there is no problem with the audio quality, but I'd like to check in more detail.
    1. THD+N<0.03% at 1 W
    2. SNR (42-µVRMS Output Noise)
    3. - 90-dB Crosstalk
    4. IMD
    5. Dynamic Range
    6. Frequency Response

  • Hi

MCLK frequency won't affect these audio frequency.
