Issue description: Initially, our device could operate at a 48k sample rate and consume up to 38W of power. However, it was unable to operate at a 96k sample rate.

A TI engineer provided an below initial setting, which allowed the device to operate at 96k but limited its power consumption to 10W.

Increasing the power consumption beyond 10W resulted in distortion. Do you have a recommadation on it.

  • Hi Welson,

    Do you have an EVM on hand to test your input signal? This can eliminate the source and errors when writing the config as the root cause. The image you sent looks like there is clipping occurring which can be caused by actual clipping (PVDD), on the digital signal into the device, digital clipping when using the DSP features, or errors when writing the I2C config to the device. Can you also let me know what the PVDD and load used for this project is?

    We don't have an EVM on hand. You had sent me a 96K below configuration two month ago and we load it into our device through i2c interface and the PVDD and load are 24V and 8ohm, but we have do a comparison of initial code between default and 96K config .Tester told that if in the default configuration got normal waveform when power up to 38W (basepro2.0), but if change config to 96K got distortion waveform when beyond 10W and in this case even change input to 48K we got same result , through the result in measurement we guess it should be something wrong in 96K configuration.Thank you for reminding us to check the input level. We will double-check this.

    There are some questions that need to be verified, as follows:

    a. Regarding the 96kHz configuration you provided for the BassPro 2.0-96K load from PPC3, did you mean that certain functions like input mixer, equalizer, FIR, AGL, THD, or DAC gain and clipping were not adjusted, and therefore remain the same as the default 48kHz configuration except different sample rate support?

    We don't have an EVM on hand. You had sent me a 96K below configuration two month ago and we load it into our device through i2c interface and the PVDD and load are 24V and 8ohm, but we have do a comparison of initial code between default and 96K config .Tester told that if in the default configuration got normal waveform when power up to 38W (basepro2.0), but if change config to 96K got distortion waveform when beyond 10W and in this case even change input to 48K we got same result , through the result in measurement we guess it should be something wrong in 96K configuration.Thank you for reminding us to check the input level. We will double-check this.

    The code originally provided should have been the default configuration. You can use the different features and do your own config using the PPC3 software. It will help a lot for you to get your system configured how you want it.

    The default settings have all of the features of the DSP disabled. If you wanted to configure any of the DSP features you would need to configure using PPC3. If you do not want to use these features then the default config is good.
