Can we use 3.3V to supply VBAT_IN when MICBIAS is 8V?

HI Eric,

The main purpose of the VBAT_IN pin is to help me to check whether analog input is short to VBAT or not.

May we know why you want to connect the VBAT_IN to 3.3V instead of VBAT?

If the analog input somehow short to MICBIAS first then short to VBAT_IN, then that 8V will feed to MICBIAS and might damage your 3.3V source  rail.

Hi Daveon,

We're curious about the VBAT_IN design, since it's for short-to-battery detection but the max rating of this pin is only 18V.

For 12V VBAT with load dump testing, we will see 35V on the VBAT which will damage this VBAT_IN pin.

Someone recommend me to use clamping circuit on this pin if we want to connect it to VBAT directly.

May I learn what's the most common way for WW customer to leverage this pin?

They also connect it to VBAT with extra clamping circuitry?

Hi Evan,

I have seen customers use a combination of Buck/boost converters + LDO's and custom clamping circuitry. This will ultimately boil down to customer preference and their system requirements.
