TAS6424E-Q1: Amplifier channels is not going to play state after channels fault removal runtime

Part Number: TAS6424E-Q1

Tool/software:

Amplifier channels are not going to plya state after channels fault removed at runtime

1.Amplifier put in play state
Channel State Control Register (address = 0x04)  configured with 0x00 value in all the channels in play state. It worked as expected.

2.Auto diagnostic enabled for channel fault monitoring run time(Cyclic)
DC Load Diagnostic Control 1 Register (address = 0x09) configured bit0 to 0(Auto diag enable) value.

3.Create the fault any one channel and fault(Short to bat or Short to GND)  reported correctly.
DC Load Diagnostic Report 1 Register (address = 0x0C)

4. But after remove the channel fault, Channel should be go to play state but here channel is not going to play state and its in DC load diagnostic.
Channel State Reporting Register (address = 0x0F)

  • Hi Puneet

3.Create the fault any one channel and fault(Short to bat or Short to GND)  reported correctly.
DC Load Diagnostic Report 1 Register (address = 0x0C)

I'm not following on this step. Right now, all the channel still in PLAY sate, right? If you use a wire to create S2P or S2G, should be OC happens as below picture:

And if you check 0x0F register, will tell you Hi-Z state, because a Fault happened.

Remove the shortage, and set "Clear Fault" bit, channel will back to PLAY.

    Do we missed any point?

  • Hi Shadow,

    After fault removal(S2B or S2G on channel-1) and clear fault bit-7(Miscellaneous Control 3 Register (address = 0x21))

But still channel-1 is getting in DC load diagnostic(Channel State Reporting Register (address = 0x0F)). But expected to play state.

    Regards,

    Puneet

  • Hi Puneet

Please check register 0x0C, to find which kind of the FAULT been reported.

  • Hi Shadow,

Fault is reported to CH1 S2P.

    1. After the CH1 S2P fault remove and clear the fault bit 7(Miscellaneous Control 3 Register (address = 0x21)), but channel is not going to play state. CH1 state is showing diagnostic mode(Channel State Reporting Register (address = 0x0F)).

    2. But as per datasheet once CH1 S2P fault remove and clear the fault bit then CH1 automatically go to play state but here its not working.

    Regards,
    Puneet

  • Hi Puneet

Let's use oscilloscope to capture the CH1 waveform, to check what is the voltage on CH1, would help us why it keep saying S2P

And also could have a try to do same testing method with other channels. If only CH1 behave like that, perhaps some damage happened.
