Hi,

I'm looking for an audio amplifier to drive a single-ended 2W speaker with a frequency response that extends to at least 21.5kHz. Specifically, I need:

An I2S/PCM A/B amplifier.
If an I2S-capable amplifier isn't available, could you recommend an I2S/PCM audio codec to pair with the analog A/B amplifier LM4990?

Hi Jeff,

Class-AB with digital input is not supported in our portfolio. TPA6211A2 is another option for analog input and Class-AB, similar to LM4990 but fully differential.

Regarding the DAC, you can narrow down some options. if you pick TPA6211A2 you can look for a differential output DAC as well, otherwise a single-ended option would work for LM4990:

Hi,

Based on the frequency response, does it seem that the LM4990 would be more suitable 19K~21.5KHz than TPA6211A2?

Hi Jeff,

Audio bandwidth is usually up to ~20kHz, so the required frequencies should be OK for any of the two options.

Hi Jeff,

Yes, PCM510xA would take care of the I2S input, convert it to analog and that can be used as input to LM4990.
