TPA3250: Input stage design - single-ended to differential

Hi,

The evaluation boards for the TPA32xx family use a pair of NE5532 opamps to accomplish the conversion to differential. I'm curious why a device like the OPA1632 was not used, given that it is designed for this purpose. Is there a performance issue or some other gotcha that I'm missing?

Hi Supira,

I am not sure of the exact reason, but I suspect cost is a big one. The NE5532 seem to be much cheaper than the OPA1632.

Hi Ramsey,

A quick look at DigiKey shows $1 for a pair of NE5532 and $3 for the OPA. Not much of a difference, given the high cost of the other components on the board.

Would you feel comfortable recommending the OPA1632 in this application?
