TAC5142EVM-K: Not performing to specs.

Part Number: TAC5142EVM-K
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAC5142

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I measured the DR of the TAC5142 evaluation board and found that the specs are not as per performance.
The pins are configured as follows.

MD0 CONTROLLER AND TARGET SELECTION
Short to Ground with 4.7K Ohms Target TDM Mode
MD1 MD2 WORD LENGTH, SUPPLY MODE, AND INTERPOLATION FILTER SELECTION
Low Low AVDD=3.3V, Word Length=32
MD4 MD5 ANALOG OUTPUT CONFIGURATION
Low Low Differential Output; Line-out only
MD3 Ground

The results are as follows

Lch Rch
output 712.4mVrms 665.7mVrms
Strain rate 97.085367% 97.645685%
noise 382.5uVrms 385.9uVrms
SNR 65.4018494 64.7360756

Also, when MD0 is set to Target LJ Mode, sound comes out only from ch2.
Is there any point I should set?

Best Regards,
Ryu.

  • Hi Ryu,

How are you measuring the voltage at the output? Which test points are you using to measure? Also what signal are you using to measure the maximum output voltage? You should use a signal that is 0dBFS for the output voltage measurement, and the SNR measurement also is specified for a 0dBFS input signal. Also, I'm not sure what strain rate is, if you could explain more. Make sure you are using a 0dBFS signal into the DAC, and measuring the output before any filters applied by the EVM, if you could measure at J31/J32/J33/J34 before the capacitor is applied that would give you the best measurement.

    Best,
    Mir
