Dear Sir,

I want to use PCM2903 IC, but it's operating temperature is -25 deg C to +85 Deg C. Can you please suggest alternate to this part, for which operating temperature shall be -40 deg C to +85 Deg C.

Hi Venkateswara,

Sir,

USB Codec Device is required for temperature range -45C to 85C. It may not be PCM Series.

I have an Single Board Computer, which have RS232, Ethernet, USB interfaces. This SBC does not have built in Codec. I should run audio related application in single Board Computer.

Please suggest a solution by using above interfaces, i need to built an Audio Codec into SBC.

Hi Venkateswara,

You will need some kind of processor or SoC to perform the conversion of your audio by either RS232 or USB into I2S format. All of our codecs are compatible with I2S since that is the standard for audio transmission.

You should use a Q1 rated codec to satisfy the temperature range. A codec like the TAC5212-Q1 could suit your needs.

Hi Venkateswara,

We do not have a standalone chip for this. On our EVMs we use the XMOS XEF216-512-TQ128-C20A as a processor that converts USB to I2S. I recommend opening a new ticket with the processors team to help narrow down a solution.

No drivers are required. The PCM2903C (and all our USB codecs) are USB class compliant.

For PCM2903C, at the website, recommended operating temperature is -25 Deg C to + 85 Deg C. However, in the datasheet, recommended operating conditions, it is showing as 25 deg C to +85 Deg C and minimum is 0 Deg C

Kindly clarify.

Hi Venkateswara,

The absolute maximum ratings are the limits before the device is at risk for damage. The recommended operating conditions are the temperatures we guarantee the device will operate as described in the data sheet. There is a risk that the device will not work correctly (but no damage occurs) if you violate the recommended conditions while staying within the absolute maximums.
