Hi expert,
We need a power output of 150W3Ω, should the TAS3251 be PBTL or BTL more appropriate? Is there a reference design for TAS3251? Which pin of the device requires special attention, such as voltage resistance issues?

Hi Winnie,
You can get 150W into 3Ohms in both BTL and PBTL as shown in section 7.7 of the datasheet. Section 9.1.1 and 9.1.2 of the datasheet give example schematics for both BTL and PBTL, section 11.2 gives layout examples, and the EVM can be used as a reference design as well. For high power applications like this, care should be taken on the output layout to match datasheet as close as possible and good thermal design is needed.

Hi Ramsey,
Can you help me review the following schematic to see if there are any issues?
1.150W / 3Ω output is designed in PBTL
2.This drawing mainly references the EVM design but the datasheet referenced in the SPK_OUT section;
3.The mode of PIN18 is for PWM only if external input is required, it does not involve master-slave configuration of I2S, and this design uses master mode 450kHz.
4. Add the parts in the red box below, please help confirm if it is possible. If possible, can you recommend the values in the red box and the values in the orange box after the inductance.
5. Which spec should I refer to, datasheet or EVM if pin14 MODE pin is pulled up?
6. Do pin13 need to keep the pullup?
7. pin1, 2, 3, 4, are the four foot connections OK?
Thank you for your support!
Hi Winnie,
A few notes on the schematic. First, the mode resistors (AR47 and AR33) can be 0 ohm resistors. For the sake of consistency, I would recommend to change AR47's 3.3V connection to be from the "P_DVDD3.3" net and not the "DVDD" net. I would also change the capacitor on pin 11 (AC48) to be a 1uF capacitor. Both the snubbers and LC filters look good. Pin 13 is a ground pin and should not have a pullup resistor.
The datasheet is always the document that should be followed for design and information. Th e EVM and User's guide are for further guidance.
