DIX4192: DIX4192 32bit data stream on SDIN pin

Part Number: DIX4192

Tool/software:

Hello.

We are currently looking at using the DIX4192 device for a custom AES3 project. This project has some legacy to it and was using a now obsolete AES3 transmitter (192kHz Digital Audio Transmitter, CS8406-CZZ). With the receiving end looking for a 32bit counter to be streamed via the SDOUT.

With this device is it possible to shift an 32bit counter value into the SDINA pin? from the datasheet is would look like I'm restricted to 24bits.

The counter will be shifted into the SDINA pin at the same frequency of the serial clock connected to the CCLK pin (which is half the freq of the MCLK at 4.194MHz)

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards

  • Hi Ben,

DIX4192 device is limited to 24bit and it seems  CS8406-CZZ is also a 24bit device ( page 21 register SIRES 1:0  of its datasheet).  Audio is 24bit anyway, so even using the first 24bit, you are not losing any data from those 8bit.  Also, if CS8406-CZZ is working fine  in your project, in theory DIX4192 should work as well.

BCK should be configured as   #of Ch x Bit Depth x Fsync.

    Regards,
