PCM1840: Synchronization with other devices

Part Number: PCM1840
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1681, , TLV320ADC3140

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I would like to synchronize the PCM1840 with the PCM1681 and use the same clock.
Both ADC/DAC are communicated in 4-channel TDM with Slave operation and DSP as Master.
However, since the polarity of BCLK is opposite to that of FSYNC, we think we cannot use the same clock as it is.
If there is a way to achieve this by setting the ADC/DAC side, please let me know.

Best Regards,
Ryu.

  • Hi,

Since both devices are hardware controlled there is limited flexibility in the audio data format. TDM mode format for both devices are fixed and cannot be changed internally.

I suggest using the SW controlled version of the ADC (TLV320ADC3140), which will allow you to change the BCLK and FSYNC polarity to meet system needs.

Otherwise, a simple not gate added or d-type flip flop can be implemented to generate an inverted FSYNC
