TAC5112: Updated audio codec overview?

Part Number: TAC5112

Tool/software:

Hi! I am interested in learning about TI's audio codecs, but am a bit overwhelmed making sense of all the offerings. I found this document:
https://www.ti.com/lit/ml/slyw043/slyw043.pdf?ts=1739718200780&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F

which is super helpful. However, it does not mention any of the TAC family of codecs. I'm curious if an updated version of this document exists that includes these products?

Specifically, I am interested in learning if any of them feature ground-centered headphone out.

Thanks!

  • Hi,

Today is a holiday for our team in the U.S. We will follow up with you on Tuesday.

    Thank you for your patience,

  • Hi,

We haven't updated the device guide to include these devices yet.

The device doesn't support ground centered headphone. You will either need to AC couple the signal to get back to ground centered or you can do a psuedo-differential set up where the minus outputs are set to the common mode and act as the virtual ground for the headphones, removing the need for an AC coupling cap.

In the register below, bit 1 sets the output common mode voltage on output 1. There's a register likewise for output 2.

    Best regards,
    Jeff McPherson
