TAS5806M: TAS5806MDCPR is Heating when applied the 24V PVDD supply

Part Number: TAS5806MTAS5806M

Tool/software:

Applying the 24V supply to PVDD in that case TAS5806MDCPR amplifier is heating. how to overcome or reduce this heating of amplifier. using below schematic in that C29, C32 used 22uF/50V and C30, C31 using the 0.1uF as per schematic given in datasheet (using stereo mode) and L5, L6, L7, L8 using 10uH and C29, C38, C41, C52 using as 0.68uF. using the 8 ohm 10W speaker.

  • Hi Shrikar,

Heating is expected when the device is switching, especially at 24V. It is fine for the device to heat up as long as it does not reach the over temperature shut down limit where it will turn off to protect itself. For pad-down devices (devices with no heatsink) the easiest ways to control thermals is to lower the switching frequency, lower the PVDD, have a good layout, or add a heat sink on the bottom of the PCB. This app note gives some insight into thermal considerations for devices like this.

    Regards,
