TPA2054D4A: Can the Class-D amplifiers output and headset amplifiers output of TPA2054D4A adjust the output volume separately?

Part Number: TPA2054D4A

Tool/software:

Hello everyone!  Can I adjust the output volume of the Class-D amplifiers output and the headphone amplifiers output of the TPA2054D4A separately?

  • Hello,

    Yes you can.

Select the input mode you want to work with, this goes to the left or right channel outputs. Then, configure the volume registers of the selected input mode register bits. Find image below. The same applies to headphone volume control, they're independent.

For example, if the input mode is 'Stereo1' mode using Lin_1 and Rin_1 to the output channels, configure register 5. I have attached images of the 5 bit commands needed to set the gain. Headphone needs 3 bit commands.

Depending on the input cfg picked, these registers control the volume:

    I hope this was informative.

  • Thanks for the guidance! Is it okay to use Differential Input Mode if you ask for advice?

  • Differential input mode is okay and volume control should work simultaneously on both. Make sure each output is enabled.

  • Thank you very much for your guidance! I have started product design.

  • Hey David,

Pay attention to the specific input mode and output mode combinations available on the IC. Find on page 20. The cases apply to the line input mux to the headphone and class-d output outputs.

    I hope this is informative.
