[Reason for Change]
To accurately reflect device characteristics. The datasheet update is driven by the changes announced in PCN 20240723003.

[Anticipated impact on Fit, Form, Function, Quality or Reliability (positive / negative)]
Electrical specification performance changes as indicated above.

[Question]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Previous time, the electrical characteristics in the data sheet were left unchanged, but this time, the electrical characteristics have been changed. Why?
The designer pointed out a contradiction.

Are you updating this data sheet after a delay of about 5 months, since you weren't able to update the previous data sheet in time?

  • Hello 正男 愛宕,

Previous time, the electrical characteristics in the data sheet were left unchanged, but this time, the electrical characteristics have been changed. Why?
Are you updating this data sheet after a delay of about 5 months, since you weren't able to update the previous data sheet in time?

This is the initial PCN that notifying the process and FAB changes in RC4558 product on July, 23, 2024.

    https://www.mouser.com/PCN/Texas_Instruments_PCN_20240723003.1_Notification.pdf

The PCN is notifying the datasheet changes on Jan. 2, 2025 in RC4558.

I noticed that there is a delay in updating the changes in the datasheet. Typically, there is a time delay between the announcement and executing of the PCN in a product. The datasheet is published on Jan 2, 2025, which it implies that the datasheet was revising during 10/2024 to 12/2024 period (may be even earlier); and the datasheet was likely submitted and queued for release of the publication, but delayed due to the Christmas holiday in Dec, 2024.

The datasheet release process at TI is tightly controlled, and it has gone through multiple teams' review and corrections in order to maintain the quality standard of the document. It has to go through lab testing, verification and review process from multiple departments before the datasheet can be approved for publication. I think that some delay is resulted these reasons. This is my best explanation based on the released date (first day after the New Year back from the Holiday).

To accurately reflect device characteristics. The datasheet update is driven by the changes announced in PCN 20240723003.

[Anticipated impact on Fit, Form, Function, Quality or Reliability (positive / negative)]
Electrical specification performance changes as indicated above.

If you are look at the revised datasheet, you would find that the performance specification in new FAB has improved upon the old RC4558 op amp specification.

The new FAB ensures the process will meet or exceed the existing performance, yield, and reliability of the previous generation before the volume production. Regarding impact on FFFQR (Fit, Form, Function, Quality or Reliability), the verification process typically involves various of electrical testings, qualifications, and long-term reliability analysis, and each aspect is assessed and compared to the old process. Although the FAB process related quality control questions are outside of my job description, I believe that customers are able to submit requests to TI's manufacturing and quality engineering team about the information.
