OPA1692: I want to use it with different power sources

Part Number: OPA1692

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I would like to use it at +10/-20 V. Is this a problem?
Even if there is no problem in terms of ratings, are there any concerns in terms of sound quality, such as noise?

Best Regards,
Ryu.

  • Hi Ryu,

Your asymmetrical power rails are well within the recommended operating requirement ((10V - (-20)V) = 30V < 36Vdc). This is not a problem.

are there any concerns in terms of sound quality, such as noise?

No design concerns. You have enough potential difference in the power rails and it should not affect the application or noise. Please make sure that the power rails have low ripple voltage noise and high frequency noise for the audio application). Use low ESR 1uF bypass capacitor at the OPA1692's power pins (0.1uF is the minimum, typically this recommendation is for low cost consideration).

In addition, the output audio signal is likely differential and power rails should not affect the sound quality or noise (if it is operating linearly within the recommended op amp performance).

If you have other questions, please let me know.

    Best,

    Raymond
