PCM3070: Is there a power up sequence for the PCM3070 or not?

Part Number: PCM3070

Tool/software:

Hi.

I was looking at the PCM3070 datasheet and here is what i dont understand:

If i want Avdd to be 3v3and IOVdd to be 1V8 do i need to start the 1V8 rail first and then the 3v3?

Often this is the order but i didnt understand if this chip is the same or different.

Also after i start the 1V8 rail how fast do i need to start the 3v3 rail?

Will the IC be ok if only 1v8 or 3v3 is present?

What do you men that DVdd and AVdd are loosely coupled?  Do i need a diode between the 2 rails? if yes in what orientation?

Also is it ok if i power IOVdd with 1V8 and then use the LDO for DVdd?

Best regards,

Robert

  • Hi Robert,

The rails don't necessarily need to come on in a specific order. There are a small handful of limitations however

DVDD and AVDD are weakly coupled together internally to the device. This connection can be disabled through a register write once AVDD is online (either external supply or LDO).

Yes it is fine if IOVDD is 1.8V and the DVDD is supplied by the internal LDO.

    Best regards,
    Jeff McPherson
