CC debugger won't work with CC85XX development kit

I just received from my professor new CC85XX development kit. The boards seem to work correctly, and pair correctly.

However, the CC Debugger doesn't seem to work correctly. When connected to the PurePath Wireless AudioEB, with either a CC85XX, or CC85XX-CC2590 range extender module, there is a steady RED light, indicating no RF device was found.

The SmartRF Studio program as well as the SmartRF Flash Programmer and the PurePath Wireless Configuration programs all show the CC Debugger as connected in the programs, so the USB drivers are working.

I have completely uploaded the latest CC Debugger firmware, and still no change in the situation.

The failure occurs regardless of which of the 2 AudioEB boards is attached, and regardless of any combination of AudioEB and RF module from the CC85XX development kit.

i am runing software on 64 bit win7 and 32 bit XP but the problem remains the same

Hi Igor,

Have you followed exactly the same way as described in "CC85xx Development Kit Hardware User’s

Guide", figure 3 - page 8? (Purepath Wireless AudioEB must be powered)

Try to do the following:

Unplug the PurePath Wireless AudioEB and CC debugger.
Ensure that you have powered the PurePath Wireless AudioEB.
LEDs sould be blinking (there are some LEDs on this board,
are there??)
Unplug CC debugger from USB cable and then connect it with
the flat ribbon cable to AudioEB (as described in figure 3).
Connect CC debugger to a PC with USB cable, do you see the
LED on CC debugger goes green?

Did you try pressing the little button? Sometimes I have to press that before the light goes green.

Hi Igor,

The audioEB is connected to power, right? Try rotating the debug connector 180 deg, and see if that helps.

yes it is connected to power. I tried rotating debug conector and in one case there is red LED, and on other case there are no light at all, with debbugrer conected to PC by USB cable.

Hi Igor,

Can you please check with a voltmeter if cc85xx powered through its power pins (all the pins

supplied with proper voltage). For the list of these pins, please refer to cc8520 datasheet, pin

description table.

Also please ensure that J10's (on AudioEB) Pin1 and 2 are jumpered!

Hi,

Measure the output voltage of U7 and U10 on the EB. Output voltage is on pin 6. If one of them doesn't work you can try to bridge 3V3_IO and 3V3_SEC on P7.

Hi,

I have the same problem and I have tried everything right now and my CC debugger doesn´t identify the CC8531 chip connected on EB, such as TI user guide shows.

Is it possible that CC debugger fails? I have verified all signals and supply and I/O voltages are correct.

Please, help me!

Hi Kristoffer,

I have tried step 8.1 too, and the result was the same. I have also tried step 8.2 but SmartRF Flash Programmer doesn´t detect CCDebugger again.

As Igor Majki says, I tried rotating debug conector but the led lights RED, but I knwo this isn´t the right way to connect it.

Besides, I have tried step 8.3 to reboot CCdebugger, but it doesn´t solve the problem

I haven´t tried 8.4 step, because I have only one CCdebugger and SmartRF05EB. I have SmartRF04EB, but I think it is no possible to make it with this.

Any idea?

Hi Victor,

Could you connect the CC debugger to smartRF05EB, the smartRF flash programmer should

detect CC2511 device, is it detected?

To be more precise, could you debug the CC2511 SoC on smartRF05EB with your CC debugger,

simply connect a flat cable from CC debugger to P2 (USB debug) header on smartRF05EB

I missed words: I have only one CCdebugger and I don´t have SmartRF05EB. I have SmartRF04EB but I think it is no possible to detect CC2511 with this board.

Hi Kristoffer,

In my case, I´m experiencing almost the same, but my ccdebugger is detected by Smartrf Flash programmer when debug connector is rotate from the right position!

So I have been able to update the firmware to the last FW version.

Maybe something in CCdebugger board crashed, because I have tried all and there are no results.

I don't quite understand. Are you talking about the 10-pin flat cable here? You shouldn't need this at all when updating the CC Debugger firmware. Then you only need the USB cable. So can you please show me a screen shot of your flash programmer after you have done the steps in 8.2 (a smilar picture to the one I have posted).

Hi all,

I have solved the problem!!

I have discovered that LDO TPS79633 doesn´t work well, so I have replaced it with similar available one and I already debug!
