TAC5242: TDM 8 and Application circuits

Part Number: TAC5242
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAC5212

Tool/software:

Hi,

My customer had the following 2 questions:

1) Can the TAC5242 be daisy chained together when using  TDM to reach a max of 8 channel inputs/outputs with TDM256?

2) Can you provide typical line level application circuits for active input/output circuits (ideally for both single-ended and differential modes of operation)?

  • Hi Abi,

The TAC5242 can daisy chain using the MD3 pin. By setting one device MD3 to high and the other to low, the two devices will place their data on different slots. This is limited to two devices. In order to achieve 8 channel in/out you would need 4 devices. You would need the software variant of the device in this case (TAC5212) in order to program all the correct slot assignments.

We don't have a line level specific app diagram, but it's 99% the same as the one in the datasheet. Instead of a mic source, the MICBIAS connections can be removed, and the line level source can drive the AC coupled input directly.

    Best regards,
    Jeff McPherson
