TAS3251: echo

Part Number: TAS3251

Tool/software:

Hi TI team,

When tuning the TAS3251 amplifier, using the High Pass-Variable Q2 filter causes echo. However, replacing it with High Pass-Butterworth1 and adjusting the frequency from 30Hz to 35Hz resolves the issue. Why does this happen?

  • Hi,

it is hard to say without knowing exactly what you configured the biquad to. The echo is likely a result of different phase responses between the two filters compared to the second audio channel.

  • Hi Ramsey,

Additional note: When testing with the TAS3251 EVM, no echo occurs regardless of whether it is configured as High Pass-Variable Q2 or High Pass-Butterworth1. We also verified the bypass mode on the customer's board, and no echo issue appears in bypass mode either. Could you help analyze the root cause? Is there potential interference affecting the system?

  • Hi,

It is a little unclear in the conditions that cause the echo. Is it when both channels are the same filter (Ch1 and CH2 are both High Pass-Variable Q2 OR both are High Pass-Butterworth 1) there is no echo but when they are different (one channel is High Pass-Variable Q2 and one is High Pass- Butterworth 1) that the echo occurs? Is the echo only audible or can you measure a time delay in the signals? Can you send me a .ppc3 file so I can use the customer's setup to test?

    Regards,

    Ramsey

  • Hi Ramsey,

Could you please share your email address? It appears that PPC3 format files cannot be attached here.

  • Hello,

    I sent you an email.

    Regards,
