TAS6424-Q1: How to exit protection mode automatically

Part Number: TAS6424-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS6424

Tool/software:

Dear TI experts,

My customer did some test with TAS6424-Q1 regarding to their end customer's request.

They shorted TAS6424's output and GND, them TAS6424 seems to go to protection mode.

After that they opened output and GND. They expected that TAS6424 will go back to normal status automatically but TAS6424 still did not work.

Is there any way to go back to normal operation mode automatically after protection mode?

Please check this issue. Thanks.

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hi Chase

If device already into PLAY mode, and you short one of the OUT to GND, usually will trigger OC fault. And OC fault won't auto recover. Please read the datasheet carefully, and guide customer to set Clear Fault, after fault condition been removed.

  • Dear Shadow,

    Thank you for your support.

I read the datasheet but.. something is not clear.

I found the Bit 7 of 0x21, CLEAR FAULT. but in the datasheet, CLEAR FAULT register seems that it can clear only \WARN pin, not \FAULT pin.

In the section 9.3.10.1 There are any parts that describes about CLEAR FAULT register. (Only in 9.3.10.2.)

So, Can I set \FAULT pin high if I write 1 to CLEAR FAULT register? or is there another way?

    Please check this issue. Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Chase

  • Hi Chase

It could FAUTL pin. Because the internal fault would be cleared by this register bit, and the FAULT pin will be released.
