TAC5412-Q1: ADC analog frontend gain

Part Number: TAC5412-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAC5212-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,
We appreciate 5Vrms maximum input signal voltage capability of TAC5412 ADC.
The other hand, how can we get the best SNR at 1Vrms input signal level?
TAC5412-Q1 has channel gain setting but if apply +14dB,it is directly increasing noise level +14dB, then SNR become less than 100dB only
Is there any configuration to keep 110dB SNR with 1Vrms input signal sensitivity?
Regards,
Mochizuki
  • Hi Mochizuki-san,

The TAC5412-Q1 uses a fixed analog attenuator to enable the high voltage 5Vrms swing. Because of this, when you reduce the desired signal level to 1Vrms, your SNR will go down accordingly. This is a limitation of the design.

If you need a 1Vrms signal I recommend using the TAC5212-Q1. These are software compatible, but the full scale is reduced to 1Vrms so you will maximize your SNR in this case.

    Best regards,
    Jeff McPherson
