TPA3251EVM: 15 volt switcher followed by 12 volt LDO - a question

Hi,

Why is the EVM set up in this manner? Would using a switcher that outputs 12 volts work as well?

    Hello,

    This may have been done from an efficiency perspective. The switching regulator is much more efficient but noisy where as the LDO is less efficient but not as noisy so the LDO is a better method to supply the device power rail. 

    What your power supply system needs to include will be very system specific (your power budget, PVDD voltage being used, etc.). We have this power design tool that may be helpful: https://webench.ti.com/power-designer/switching-regulator.
