Manufacturer's ID

Can you elaborate on how one should generate Manufacturer's ID for production.  Per User Guide:

"The manufacturer ID must be generated using the PurePath Wireless Configurator by reading out the device ID from a CC85xx that the manufacturer owns. Note that this device should be marked, and should not be passed on to other manufacturers."

Using the configuration it seems like I can generate whatever Manufacturer's ID I want.  Is that correct?  How does one prevent overlapping with other manufacturers?

  • Hi Vlad,

    This is how you do:

-Go to the Device Identification panel

-To the right of the Manufacturer ID field you see a "Create new..." button. Click it.

-Connect a device you own with the CC Debugger. The device ID of this chip will be your Manufacturer ID. SInce the deivice IDs of a chip is globally unique your manufacturer ID is now also globally unique. Type in the Manufacturer name and then click the "Create manufacturer ID" button.

-Click the green up-arrow in the top right corner to return to the normal Device Identification panel.

-The new Manufacturer ID will now be selectable in the drop down menu together with 00000001 - Texas Instruments

If everyone creates manufacturer ID this way there will be no overlapping. If someone simply types in a random number, the likelihood for that number being the same as yours is extremly small given the 32 bit length of the ID.
